This year’s E3 conference was packed full of exciting announcements, reveals, trailers, hardware and more. Unless you dedicated those few days to keeping up with all the action, it’s likely you missed some big announcements. Somehow, one announcement that I find particularly interesting and game-changing slid under my radar, and after reading about it days later, I couldn’t believe I haven’t heard more hype about it.
In an original post on Gamespot.com, author Rob Crossley writes “Sony brought an end to several years of Microsoft timed-exclusivity of Call of Duty DLC on Monday (last week), announcing on its stage at E3 2015 that Black Ops 3 add-on content will be coming to PlayStation 4 first.”
Let that settle in for second and then read further…
Yes, that is correct. Upon the launch of Black Ops 3 DLC, Playstation 4 players will get first dibs. Typically, it is the Xbox players who are rubbing this in the face of their counterparts, but now, the roles have been reversed.
Crossley goes on to paraphrase Sony’s Group CEO, saying “House returned to the stage to declare that, in his eyes, PlayStation 4 is the new home for Call of Duty.” Furthermore, House claims that the deal will continue beyond Black Ops 3.
Go ahead, take another second to let it settle in…
So, it depends on which side of fence you fall on. This can either be great news, bad news, or you couldn’t care less if you aren’t a console gamer. Either way, I felt this news was worth re-circulating.
