One of my favorite network television shows over the course of nearly 2 years now has been none other than NBC’s The Blacklist. Starring the witty James Spader as Raymond Reddington, Megan Boone as Elizabeth Keen, and Ryan Eggold as Tom Keen, The Blacklist has kept me hooked with a strong and mysterious storyline, suspensful action sequences and a budding relationship (platonic) between protagonist and antagonist.
Semi-spoilers to follow.
In this, the second season of The Blacklist, fans of the show have gained valuable insight into the connection between Liz and Red. We’ve learned about the Fulcrum, and although we still aren’t 100% sure what that mysterious object does at this point, we know that it plays an integral role in the relationship between Liz and Red, as well as Red’s safety. However, the season has also depicted the distrust surrounding the Fulcrum between Red, and who seem to be his former associates.
The Blacklist, or NBC rather, has made a habit of taking extended breaks in the middle of seasons. I’m not exactly sure why this is, but in my case, it sure doesn’t help ease the curiosity and eagerness to catch the next episode. I guess in their book that is a success. The last episode before the current break left off with an OMG-inducing scene, where Reddington fell to the ground after taking a shot to the chest from a distance. Well, the show returns tomorrow for the last part of season 2, and Red may be down, but he’s not out.
With Red being rushed to medical care, it will be up to Liz and Red’s associates to figure out who pulled the trigger, and to stop them from finishing the job. Watching the preview for the upcoming episode (inserted below) there is also some foreshadowing that could cause speculation that this is all part of Red’s plan. Leading up to this episode, and learning more about why Red wanted so much to do with Liz, this could have been a last-ditch effort to keep her around. I suppose we’ll have to tune in tomorrow night to see what unfolds.
If you’re as big of a fan of The Blacklist as I am, you’ll be happy to know that back in February, NBC announced the renewal of the hit show for a third season.
